Last year, CD Projekt Red officially announced The Witcher 4, confirming that Ciri will step into the spotlight as the game’s new main character. Dev Encourages Fans to Experience the Full Game First

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, The Witcher 4 engineering production manager Jan Hermanowicz urged fans to withhold judgment until they can experience the game for themselves. “When the game will be out, you’ll be able to see for yourself and fully embrace her character, her story,” Hermanowicz stated. “And I think that will be the moment to make opinions and make the calls.”

Ciri’s Complex Character Arc

Hermanowicz highlighted that the teaser trailer showcased Ciri in “two emotional states very distinct from one another,” hinting at a more complex and fully fleshed-out character arc in the final game. He also supported comments by Geralt’s voice actor Doug Cockle, explaining that the original Witcher books naturally set the stage for Ciri to become the central figure.

“For me, personally, reading the books, it’s very clear that the story slowly transitions from being Geralt’s story to really being Ciri’s story, sometimes narrated through the eyes of Geralt,” Hermanowicz added.

The Witcher 4 Tech Demo and Future Expectations

CD Projekt Red recently showcased a tech demo at State of Unreal, giving fans a glimpse into the future of The Witcher series. However, the studio clarified that the demo wasn’t directly from The Witcher 4 but was set in the same universe, showcasing the technology they’re working with.
